Meeting of children from orphanages with the Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič and his wife Silvia Gašparovičová has already become a tradition at the Presidential Palace. Children were waiting for the ceremonial lighting of the palace and the Christmas tree for the eighth time.
This year, the presidential couple welcomed on 6 December 2011 children from orphanages: the Children Town in Trenčín – Zlatovce, the orphanage Žitavce and the orphanage Košice. The task to lit the Christmas tree as well as the ceremony lighting of the palace was acquitted of a costumed boy from the orphanage Trenčín – Zlatovce, the little boy Alexander Sabo.
Children rendered the presidential couple and their guests numerous gifts in the form of examples of modern dance, singing, Christmas story dramatization and Christmas congratulations. Ivan Gašparovič and his wife Silvia have also received small gifts from the children – a gingerbread house, drawings and self-made Christmas decorations.
Children from orphanages then drew children’s homes that will visit St. Nicholas celebration at the Presidential Palace in the next year. It will be children from the Orphanage of St. Hofbauer in Podolínec, the Orphanage Slniečko (the Sun) in Polomka and the Orphanage Hope in Sereď.
St. Nicholas along with the presidential couple than handed over sweet gifts to children. The presidential couple helps children in foster homes not only at St. Nicholas day, but throughout the whole year. |
