By cutting the ceremonial ribbon opened on September 7, 2009 the spouse of the slovak President Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová the school year 2009/2010 at the Private Elementary School for Intellectually Gifted Students at Znievska street in Bratislava-Petržalka. Her first school-day also mentioned the First Lady: "As for you, also for me it was something special and unique," said Mrs. Gašparovičová.
After two months of holidays, the children have returned to a new location because this school previously housed on the M.C. Skłodowska street in Bratislava. The school with its special focus and highly professional approach of teachers creates very good conditions for students. According to Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová the establishment of schools for gifted children is a very good idea because this type of individual schools allows teachers a special access to gifted children, who often have special educational needs. Eg. in the Czech Republic this type of education is completely absent.
The First Lady thanked the teachers for their former and future self-sacrificing work. As further said, "the teacher was and always will be one of the key articles in the education of children and youth. It depends also on him how the generations of young people will be ready for life." She wished children good luck in the new school year and susceptible pupils for the teachers.
