President of the Slovak Republic Met with Representatives of Singapore

President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gašparovič with his wife and the delegation paid an official visit to the Republic of Singapore.

President of the Republic of Singapore Sellapan Rama Nathan voiced his pleasure over the precious visit and remarked that „ the visit of President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gašparovič is a major impulse to intensify mutual relations between Singapore and the Slovak Republic”.

President Gašparovič said that it was historically the first visit ever of the Slovak Republic to Singapore and expressed his conviction that this visit would become a signal to improve our relations in all fields – not only political and economic, but also cultural, educational and social.

The delegation of President Ivan Gašparovič included a group of Slovak businessmen whose participation in the Slovak-Singapore Economic Forum opened by President Ivan Gašparovič could also contribute to strengthening the future economic cooperation.

Slovakia can be an interesting partner for Singapore particularly in the areas of mechanical, chemical, textile or pharmaceutical industries. Slovakia has an advantage of its geographical positions in Central Europe and its membership in the EU. President Gašparovič mentioned that some of perspective areas of Singapore investments of Slovakia could be fields of electronics, power, information technologies or banking.
