On 9 October 2005, Silvia Gašparovičová attended a benefit concert "I Am Offering You My Sun", held under her patronage. The concert took place in the St. Vincent de Paul Church and was organized by the civic organization SUNFLOWER SLOVAKIA on the occasion of the World Day of Hospices and Palliative Care to support the construction of the building of the St. Catharine Labouré Center of Mobile Hospice with a daily outpatient department in Bratislava-Ružinov.
In her address, the First Lady thanked to all those who had contributed to the construction of the facility that is so much helpful to the terminally ill patients in their sufferings. It will help them not to lose their dignity in their difficult situation. Moreover, it will also provide a lot of support to the relatives of the terminally ill.

„I take part in charity events quite often and I like to take part in them. The main theme of such events is humanity which needs to be particularly cherished nowadays. And I believe that not only cherished, it needs to be pointed out. In fact, I do not resist using the words like to be promoted, to be given as an example to everybody, in particular young people. I really appreciate your good will and humanity you have shown", said the First Lady, addressing those who had come up with an idea to build a center of a mobile hospice, and to hold a benefit concert to raise funds for completing the center. |
