By a tour through the Presidential palace began the official meeting of the Slovak First Lady Silvia Gašparovičová and the husband of the Dutch ambassador to Slovakia. Mr. Jan-Paul Dirkse is a historian. And this was one of the reasons why Mrs. Gašparovičová decided to show him the premises of the Presidential Palace in Bratislava. The adoption took place on 22 September 2009 at the occasion of submission of letters of credence of Mrs. Daphne Bergsma, the designated Ambassador of the Kingdom of Netherlands to Slovakia, to the hands of the President Mr. Ivan Gašparovič.
"Please let me to thank you for the warm welcoming from your side. It’s the first time when I´m in this position, in the position of the first man," said the ambassador’s husband, who currently serves as ambassador in Ankara, Turkey.
He also informed Mrs. Gašparovičová about his experiences from abroad. "I am delighted that Slovakia is not only a member of the European Union, but since 2009 also a member of the Eurozone. I must say that I like the most the Slovak euro coins, which are so vivid," said Jan-Paul Dirks. Among the topics of talks resonated the economic crisis that troubled the last months not only Slovakia but the whole world. |
