International Forum of Experts in Russian Studies in Bratislava

Exchange of experience in the field of culture and language. Also this was one of the objectives of the International Forum of Experts in Russian Studies from Central, Eastern Europe and the Russian Federation which took place on 9 and 10 October 2009 in Bratislava. The 4th year was held under the auspice of the First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. "In Slovakia, the Russian language is becoming more important. Not only young, but also adults are aware of its importance and the fact that it belongs at the forefront among world languages, which increase the possibility of international communication and trade. I´m convinced that not only in Europe but also in the world will grow the interest for this language," said in her speech Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. 

The Russian Ambassador to Slovakia Mr. Alexander Udaľcov, who also attended the opening ceremony of the international forum, said that for the russian language is really growing interest. "It belongs to Slavic languages that Slavic nations know. Russian is spoken not only by students at secondary schools but also by businessmen." Among the guests were the President of the International Association of Experts in Russian Studies Mrs. Ľudmila Alexeyevna Verbická, who presented the message from the spouse of the Russian President. In the letter Mrs. Svetlana Medvedev stressed the importance of this event which brings together educators and experts of the Russian language. She wished all participants many fruitful and creative work.

Organizers of this event were the Russian Center of Science and Culture in Bratislava and the National Institute for Education.
