First Lady of Slovakia Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová visited on 25 May 2013 Slovak compatriots in Budapest on the occasion of the 17th ´Slovak Housewife´ event. At the premises of the Slovak Embassy in Hungary First Lady of Slovakia met with dozens of handy expatriates, who showed their culinary skills and baked sweet, as well as savory goodies. Also this year Slovaks living abroad opened the event by the song „God bless“. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic in the Republic of Hungary Mr. Peter Weiss and President of the Association of Slovaks in Hungary Mrs. Ruženka Egyedová Baráneková thanked the First Lady for her support and appreciated the fact that for the 8th time she personally came to support compatriots. Mrs. Egyedová Baráneková rendered to Mrs. Gašparovičová a brooch called "Slovak heart" as a sign of respect and gratitude for her support.
Subsequently, all participants of the event moved to the exposed cakes. "As I see, the tradition of beautiful cakes continues. Allow me to open this beautiful exhibition," said the First Lady of Slovakia. After the opening of the cakes exhibition followed a cultural program of folk singers and dancers of the University Folk Ensemble Mladosť (´Juvenility´) from Banská Bystrica.
The wonderful cultural program was followed by a discussion where compatriots had the opportunity to talk to the spouse of the President of Slovakia and other guests on theme 'Nationality Lives in Her Language', but also discuss about problems that our expatriate community in Hungary suffer. After a lively discussion followed the evaluation of the ´Slovak Housewife´ competition – of the most delicious cake. Also Mrs. Gašparovičová rewarded a few housewives for their cakes. An absolute winner became Mrs. Anna Tóthová. |
