President Ivan Gašparovič and his spouse Silvia Gašparovičová welcomed on 20 May 2011 at the Presidential Palace winners of the 5th national poll Golden Rescue Cross 2010. At the meeting were also present Minister of Health Ivan Uhliarik, President of the Police Corps Jaroslav Spišiak, President of the Fire and Rescue Corps Alexander Nejedlý and CEO of the Fire Brigade of the Czech Republic Miroslav Štepán.
President Ivan Gašparovič thanked all nominated for their heroic deeds and highly appreciated their humanity: "You have the gift from God that you can sacrifice yourself. It’s not easy. It is a manifestation of the power of your personality." The Slovak President highlighted the fact that all nominated are ready to help and put themselves at risk, regardless of their own risk. "You don´t look at what you have to do or not. You overcome yourself – often many of you have sacrificed even lives to save life of a fellow citizen."
Head of State acknowledged that all the Golden Rescue Cross awarded want to be personally involved, where others have lack of ability and strength to help themselves. "I am proud of you as the President of the Slovak Republic, and as a citizen of the Slovak Republic I respect and honor that such people live in Slovakia and that in difficult moment we may rely on," said the Slovak President.
The Golden Rescue Cross poll is organized by the rescue magazine RESCUE REPORT in conjunction with the Presidium of Fire and Rescue Corps of the Slovak Republic, the Police Presidium of Slovakia and in cooperation with medical and rescue services experts. The best rescue act of the year is a poll of professional and general public to seek and support all actions and activities that lead to saving lives and protecting property and human health, by outstanding and highly professional manner. |
