Italian President Giorgio Napolitano and his wife Clio Napolitano arrived on 15th April 2011 to a 1-day working visit of the Slovak Republic. After a joint meeting of the presidential couples in the President´s Receiving Salon of the Presidential Palace, the spouses of presidents moved into the Golden Salon. At the beginning of the meeting, Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová stated that she is "pleased that I can host such a rare visit. I am glad that I can welcome you in Slovakia."
During the discussion Mrs. Gašparovičová familiarized Mrs. Napolitano with culture and attractions of Slovakia, and also advised her on the history of Slovak spas. "In Slovakia there are several spas which are popular among tourists from around the world. For example, in Piešťany is a famous spa to treat rheumatism and musculoskeletal system, that are sought e.g. by clients from the Arab countries. The treatment is carried out through the healing sulphurous mud."
It´s interesting that Mrs. Clio Napolitano visited Slovakia 50 years ago. And as she said, "your country has changed since than. One can see a huge difference." Recently, Mrs. Napolitano met with Mrs. Gašparovičová in Italy in February 2007 when the Slovak presidential couple came on the official visit to the Italian Republic.
First Lady of Italia Clio Bittoni Napolitano was born on 10th November 1934 in Chiaravalle. She graduated at the University of Law in Naples, Italy. |
