On 11-12 September 2009 in the Polish city of Sopot in the north of the country was held the traditional Summit of Visegrad Presidents.
First Ladies together with their spouses attended the opening ceremony of the V4 Summit. Part of that was a parade of representative units of the Polish military navy and a historic tour of the ship ´ORP Blyskawica´. Then the First Ladies had heavy agenda. First Ladies were hosted by Mrs. Maria Kaczyńska, the spouse of the president of Poland. By helicopter ladies moved to the Hel peninsula, where they viewed the president’s residence Jurata. At lunch First Ladies discussed not only their charitable projects, but also did a good thing: they drew smiles for the ´Project Smile – Goodwill for the Children and Their Families´. It is a smile coupled with autograph of a personality, which represents joy of life. These works are then displayed in hospitals for children and adults to bring hope for their struggle with severe diseases.
After a stroll of the presidential couples through the Sopot pier and boating on the river Motlawa ladies visited the City Museum in Gdańsk, and attended a formal dinner in Oliwi.
On Saturday 12th September 2009 ladies viewed the Amber Museum, where they could see not only artistic products of this noble stone, but also various fossils embedded in amber. After lunch at the 32nd floor in Gdynia Sea Towers followed a common farewell of the presidential couples. |
