On 14 September 2012 in the Auditorium of the Comenius University in Bratislava was held the scientific conference "Nursing – 50 years of University Education in Slovakia" under the auspices of the First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. Its aim was to assess past and present university education in nursing in Slovakia, which has been running already for five decades, but also to outline current trends in the development of nursing.
Mrs. Gašparovičová also attend the opening ceremony of the scientific conference. "I gladly took the patronage of this event, which also has an international dimension and is close to me due to its focus," said the First Lady, who also stressed the importance of university-educated nurses who are indispensable. "For a patient, the professional help of a nurse is irreplaceable", said Silvia Gašparovičová.
"Health has always been one of the most important life values. Regard to the protection, promotion or restoring of human health is the nursing profession a basic one. It´s a highly noble profession – because in addition to professionalism you need a high level of humanity," said the Rector of the Comenius University in Bratislava Mr. Karol Mičieta.
On this occasion, important personalities were awarded with Gold Brooches for their contributions to the development of nursing in Slovakia. The award was also given to the Slovak First Lady, who has been in a long-term dealing with health and is at the same time the honorable member of the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives. |
