Gardenparty 2006

On Saturday 27th May 2006 took place in the Grassalkovich Garden of the President´s Palace the 5th annual Gardenparty hold in the sign of solidarity and humanity. It was the 2nd time the Slovak Foundation of Silvia Gašparovičová – Education and Health for Everybody was a partner of the non-formal association of Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Slovakia in this event. The main aim of Gardenparty is to help people who need it the most. This year also the city part Bratislava-Old City became a co-organizer of this event.

This undertaking included two parts. The children´s part on saturday was dedicated to the celebration of the International children´s day. It welcomed nearly 500 children and adults with a lively show as well as an attractive refreshment. The ambition of the organisators was to involve children of different nationalities to the games; whether it are children healthy, handicapped or from children´s homes. The auspice for the children´s part was hold by Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová, which also personally visited this nice happening. After her speech to the public she felt so good with the children that she stayed with them till the end.

The evening part was characterized by solidarity and cooperation of Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Slovakia with state institutions, private and non-profit organizations. The auspice for this part was hold by the President of the Slovak Republic, Mr. Ivan Gašparovič, who personally visited this part with his spouse. The cardinal moment of this part was a charitable auction the gain of which will be donated to agreed charitable aimes.

More than 20 interesting and valuable charges were bid. The most interesting were hand-made works of art of children from the Children´s Home in Bernolákovo – one such decorative work was bid for 20.000,- SKK! The whole gain of the charitable auction in the amount of 227.700,- SKK donored the organizators to the Slovak Foundation of Silvia Gašparovičová – Education and Health for Everybody who decided to use it for organizing a summer camp for mentally handicapped children with their parents and for providing the Helpline for victims of domestic violence.
