In the Presidential Palace also this year St. Nicholas distributed his gifts. The presidential couple welcomed on 7th December 2009 children from three orphanages - from Michalovce, Horný Kelčov and Malacky. Small boy Ivanko Galba from the orphanage Macejko in Malacky togehter with Ms. Silvia Gašparovičová solemnly lighted the Christmas tree in the Great Hall of the palace, as well as in the front courtyard and the Christmas light decoration of the Presidential Palace in Bratislava. The office of the President is so hid in a Christmas dress.
St. Nicholas visited the children with bags full of gifts. Those, however, had to earn the sweeties. They properly managed this with poems, beautiful Christmas songs and congratulations. Even children, however, did not come empty-handed. The fact that they are very clever and talented, could persuade the presidential couple. Imro form the orphanage Macejko painted for Mr. President the well-known castle in Malacky, children of the Horný Kelčov and Michalovce brought handmade gingerbread.
Next year, the presidential couple will welcome children from orphanages in Trnava, Istebné and Nižná Kamenica.
