Europe’s most prestigious women’s golf tour, the Ladies European Tour (LET) was held for the second time on the golf course Grey Bear in Slovakia. Auspice over the Allianz Slovak Ladies Open 2011 tournament took again the First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová, who on 24 May 2011 also inaugurated this international tournament. "I am very glad that in Slovakia such an international event will be held. In Slovakia, golf is becoming more and more popular, new golf courses and players in all age categories are growing. This golf tournament offers again not only the opportunity to play golf in beautiful surroundings of the Low Tatras, but also an opportunity to show the other beauties of Slovakia." Said at the festive opening Silvia Gašparovičová, who is also a number of years playing golf.
In 2007 the Slovak Foundation of Silvia Gašparovičová – Education and Health for Everybody with a number of golf enthusiasts established the Junior Golfers Association of Slovakia, where in addition to tournaments for children and youth the golf in schools is promoted.
From 26 to 29 May 2011 at the golf course Gray Bear in the beautiful surroundings of the Low Tatras 126 professional golf players from 29 countries worldwide will play in four rounds. The event will be attended also by the historically first and so far the only Slovak tournament winner in the Ladies European Tour series – Zuzana Kamasová. In the tournament will represent Slovakia the talented and only 16-years-old Natália Hečková. The place in the world’s elite will attack the great hope of Czech golf – the 16-years-old Klára Spilková who plays golf since she was five. The biggest stars of the tournament will certainly include the first four players of the ranking nominated for the autumn Solheim Cup (Europe VS. USA): Laura Davies (ENG), Mellisa Reid (ENG), Christel Boeljon (NL), Virginie Lagoutte-Clement (FRA), but also LPGA players Helen Alfredsson (SWE) and Gwladys Nocera (FRA) and, of course, Maria Hernandez (ESP) who will advocate the primacy.
In 2011, the Ladies European Tour will be played at 27 golf courses in 20 countries including Asia, Australia, New Zealand and Africa. |
