First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová welcomed on 7th June 2010 His Excellency the Ambassador of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, Mr. Francis Martin O’Donnell. At the meeting Mrs. Gašparovičová approached the activities of the Slovak Foundation of Silvia Gašparovičová – Education and Health for Everybody that supports educational projects of different orientation for all social groups of citizens of Slovakia. "For several years we are helping those who need it most. We help blind and deaf children to improve and enhance their learning process – we buy special school supplies not only to schools but also to facilities for handicapped children," said Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová, who also introduced to Mr. O’Donnel other projects of the foundation.
The Ambassador thanked the spouse of the President for audience and confirmed their interest in collaboration between the foundation and the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Mr. Francis Martin O’Donnel approached to Mrs. Gašparovičová the work of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta in Slovakia. "We helped in establishing a pastoral center in Košice, in the hospice in Nitra we help and take care of the dying," said the ambassador. He also explained the project of setting up a kindergarten for Roma children in Eastern Slovakia. "We need to integrate Roma into society. For example, through education," said Ambassador O’Donnel.
The Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem of Rhodes and of Malta is present in Slovakia since 1993. In the public is the order best known for its charitable activities. |
