State Honors 2013

On 1 January 2013 at the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the Slovak Republic granted President Ivan Gašparovič the highest Slovak state honors to important personalities of the Slovak Republic. The ceremony, which took place in Bratislava´s Redoute as a part of the nationwide celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Slovak Republic, attended also the First Lady of Slovakia Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. Also present were Speaker of the Parliament Pavol Paška, Prime Minister Robert Fico, parliamentarians, representatives of the government and local governments, diplomats, representatives of churches, culture and other distinguished guests.

• 3rd Class Order of the White Double Cross was awarded to Ľubomír Molitoris, for his long-time cultural, compatriotical and educational activities and spreading the good name of Slovakia abroad
• 1st Class Andrej Hlinka Order, in memoriam was awarded to Hvezdoň Kočtúch for extraordinary contributions to the creation of the Slovak Republic, for lifetime achievement in the development of economic theory and economy of the Slovak Republic
• 1st Class Ľudovít Štúr Order was awarded to Milan Gregor, Vladimír Jukl (in memoriam), Silvestrer Krčméry and Michal Martikán
• 2nd Class Ľudovít Štúr Order was awarded to the scientist Karel Šafařík, scientist and teacher František Špaldon, IT specialist Miroslav Trnka, chemist Miroslav Urban, scientist and teacher Štefan Vašek
• 3rd Class Ľudovít Štúr Order was awarded to the movie director and screenwriter Peter Solan
• 1st Class Pribina Cross gained the opera singer Peter Dvorský, ethnographer and folk songs performer Darina Laščiaková, painter and sculptor Andrej Rudavský, violinist Peter Michalica, poet and writer Štefan Moravčík
• 2nd Class Pribina Cross II. was awarded to the actresses Magda Paveleková and Ida Rapaičová, as well as to the glass artist Ján Zoričák
