Representatives of volunteers who devote not only their time but also a lot of effort and energy to sick or disadvantaged people welcomed at the Presidential Palace in Bratislava on 19th January 2010 President Ivan Gašparovič and his wife Silvia Gašparovičová. It was a traditional New Year´ meeting of representatives of the Slovak Humanitarian Council with the presidential couple. President Ivan Gašparovič praised the work of these people that are helping for those who need it most. Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová is actively working with several members of the Slovak Humanitarian Council. "I am delighted that I could meet you. I’d like to wish you a lot of forces in your self-sacrificing work and let the smile of people you are helping be a big thank for you for what you do for them," said Mrs. Gašparovičová.

At the end of the meeting to all present sang the extremely talented slovak singer Marián Bango, who is blind from birth on.

The Slovak Humanitarian Council operates in Slovakia since 1990. It´s the national volunteer center of humanitarian and charitable organizations, civic associations and foundations operating in the social field in a broad sense.
