On Friday the 13th April 2007 gave the First Lady of Slovakia at the Winter Stadium of Vladimír Dzurilla in Bratislava prizes to the winners of the II. Hilda Múdra Cup. The event was held under her auspices, as well as the 1st year of this cup in March 2005. It was organized by Mrs. Hilda Múdra, the former trainer of olympic winner Ondrej Nepela in cooperation with the Slovak Special Olympics Movement ´Special Olympics Slovakia´ led by Mrs. Eva Lysičanová and Mayor of the city part Bratislava - Ružinov Mr. Slavomír Drozd, who provided free ice rink.
International Figure Skating competitions have already a multiannual tradition and are held alternately in Bratislava and Vienna. This year participated about thirty skaters with intellectual disabilities from Germany, Austria, Hungary and Slovakia, divided into five performance categories. The youngest race participant had only 8 years.
The event had a spontaneous friendly atmosphere. The First Lady viewed the final part of the program and together with the President of ´Special Olympics Slovakia ’ Mrs. Lysičanová and the mayor Mr. Drozd they handed over diplomas and medals to the winners in each category. The best contestant won the Hilda Múdra Cup. At the end of the event she commended the organizers of this project with international participation, which gives space to show talents of people with disabilities, of people who don´t miss the enthusiasm and militancy. She particularly thanked the competitors, who trained hard to fully show everything they have learned, and once again they overcomed themselves. She expressed her deep conviction that sport is the activity, which has a direct impact on improving health status of the disabled, it encourages them to overcome themselves, installation of new ambitious objectives, and gives them joy and inner complacency. She also expressed her pleasure that in Slovakia we build up this tradition with such noble goals. |
