On 29 September 2012 will take place the World Heart Day in Slovakia under the auspices of the Slovak First Lady Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. Aim of the World Heart Day 2012 educational campaign entitled "One World, One Home, One Heart" is the prevention of cardiovascular diseases of women and children.
On 19 September 2012 Mrs. Gašparovičová took part in the press conference dedicated to the World Heart Day 2012. As the Honorary President of the Slovak League "Heart to Heart" Ján Slezák said, "we need to care aobout the heart. It is necessary to encourage people to know their risk." First Lady highlighted the need to move from words to action – to implement recommendations in practice, whether in the family or at schools. In her speech she also indicated that there is only one way to improve the health of Slovak citizens – to take systematic measures in health care, insurance and education area.
The tradition of the World Heart Day was founded in 2000 by the World Heart Federation to inform people around the world that heart disease and stroke are the leading cause of death of people and that there is a big need for prevention in this area. |
