First Lady of Slovakia participated on 8th March 2011 in the gala event Nurse of the Year 2010. This year for the fourth time the event was hold under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Slovakia, the Slovak First Lady and the Minister of Health. Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová is pleased that the event became a significant event with tradition. "The main mission of today’s ceremony is honoring the long work of nurses. To be a nurse is not as easy as it looks. Become a nurse is a particular challenge, behind which is the willingness to professionally take care of the sick and be the hope in misery and despair for them," said the First Lady. According to her many people, who were present at the gala evening, dedicated their lives just to the profession.
According to the World Health Organisation nurses and midwives are among the strategic health care professions. With needs and what´s most troubling nurses is the First Lady very familiar with – she is the honorary member of the Slovak Chamber of Nurses and Midwives. "Many of you know that social prestige and paying of nurses in Slovakia don´t show yet the importance of their profession and administered work performance. Your legitimate requests for improved conditions and higher remuneration for your hard work have my support, as well as of the general public," said the First Lady of Slovakia.
From the hands of the First Lady took the award Nurse of the Year 2010 in the category Provider of Nursing Care Mrs. Jana Híčiková from Nephro-Dialysis Center in Martin. Nurse of the Year 2010 in the category Manager became a care center owners in Humenné Mrs. Zuzana Fabianová and Gabriela Hriesneková, who also received the silver St. Elizabeth Rose. Nurse of the Year 2010 – Educator in Diabetology became Mrs. Ľubica Emríšková from the Diabetes Care Center in Malacky. About her victory decided readers of the Diabetic magazine. Award for Lifetime Achievement was awarded to Mrs. Emilia Gregušová from Nitra. |
