By a welcoming ceremony in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace on 4 April 2013 began the Czech President Miloš Zeman and his wife Ivana their official visit to Slovakia. Specificity of the visit is the fact that it was the first official meeting of heads of state that were in both countries elected directly by the citizens. "I am delighted that our first visit went to Slovakia," said the Czech First Lady.
After signing the guestbook followed a tête-à-tête meeting of the presidential couples. Afterwards First Ladies of Slovakia and the Czech Republic in the Golden salon Presidential Palace discussed their charitable activities and intentions. In the office of the First Lady of the Czech Republic Mrs. Zemanova intends to focus mainly on helping children in need. "I have a lot of things in common, especially in areas where Mrs. Zemanova intends to help. We shared our experiences. I am looking forward to our future cooperation," said Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová.
Afterwards Mrs. Gašparovičová and Mrs. Zemanova viewed the exhibition ’Art Treasures - Secession’, where the most important Slovak and Czech artists of this period (Art Nouveau) are presented. Exhibited are the masterpieces of Alfons Mucha from his Paris period and the most important Czech Art Nouveau work ´Spring´ by Jan Preisler, as well as Slovak authors Ladislav Mednyánszky, Anton Jasusch and others.
