The New Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany Presented His Letters of Credence to the President of the Slovak Republic

August 23, 2005

President of the Slovak Republic Ivan Gašparovič received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Slovak Republic, Jochen Trebesch, who presented him with his letters of credence. During the ceremony President Ivan Gašparovič appreciated that the other years represented a period of historically most intensive development of the German-Slovak relations, and declared the interest of Slovakia to keep the high level of cooperation in all areas of mutual interests. The President of the Slovak Republic emphasised that the membership of both countries provided for good premises and a new perspective for further development of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation. President Ivan Gašparovič underlined that the positive development of the Slovak-German relations was a result of high-quality and open political dialogue which managed to be established at both the highest political and interdepartmental levels. According to Ivan Gašparovič, this dialogue has already started to be effectively reflected in increasingly intensive cooperation of the Slovak Republic with particular federal countries, regions and towns. President Ivan Gašparovič expressed his conviction that the favourable trend in the development of the bilateral cooperation would be maintained. Finally, President Ivan Gašparovič wished the newly appointed Ambassador a lot of success in his both professional and private lives during his new diplomatic mission.
