The President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev, and his wife Svetlana will arrive for a two-day official visit in the Slovak Republic on 6 April 2010.
After landing in Bratislava and attending an official ceremony in the courtyard of the Presidential Palace, Mr Medvedev will attend a ceremonial dinner held by Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič in tribute to his guest.
The second day of the Russian President’s visit will start with talks with the Slovak head of state. Both presidents will jointly decorate WWII veterans in the Presidential Palace. At the end of their plenary discussion, the Slovak and Russian heads of state will sign bilateral agreements. Afterwards, both highest officials are expected to hold a joint press conference.
While in Bratislava, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will also meet other top officials of the Slovak Republic. Following the agenda in the Presidential Palace, Prime Minister Robert Fico will welcome the Russian President at a working lunch in the Office of the Government of the Slovak Republic. Medvedev’s itinerary also includes a meeting with Speaker of the Parliament Pavol Paška.
Furthermore, the highest Russian representative will attend a ceremony at the Slavín memorial, held on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the liberation of the city of Bratislava.
In their brief speeches during the wreath-laying ceremony, both presidents will honour the memory of fallen soldiers. Mr. Medvedev will conclude his official visit to the Slovak Republic at a concert performed by the A.V. Alexandrov Russian Army Song and Dance Ensemble, which he will attend with Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič.
