On December 7, 2007 attended Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová the AmCham Charity Drive Breakfast in Carlton Hotel in Bratislava. This event is organized by the American Chamber of Commerce in the Slovak Republic each year. At this meeting the whole amount of raised money in that year is announced. The sum is estimated for projects in severeal areas: working with medically handicapped and ill, with children, disabled and social weak groups etc. This year the total amount of money was 1 118 500,- SKK. The main sponsor was Radisson SAS Carlton Hotel.
As Mr. Jake Slegers (executive manager of the chamber) said, the American Chamber of Commerce tries to support not only the economic conditions in Slovakia but also help several communities. This is the AmCham providing since 1998. This year the chamber contributed to 10 projects of charitable organizations from various regions of Slovakia: Children Hospital in Košice, „Cardo“ Civil Association, „Dživipen Život“ Union in Banská Bystrica, Crisis Centre „Dúha“ (Rainbow) in Bratislava, J. Murgaš Foundation in Bratislava, Institute of Priest Christus in Žakovce, Civil Association „Medzi nami“ (Between us), Foundation „Pamäť“ (Memory), Mother Theresa Missionaries, Social Services Shelter „Slatinka“ in Lučenec and Social Services Shelter „Svetluška“ in Senica. Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová hold over the representatives of the organizations symbolic cheques for support of their projects.
