Again after a year, on 4th June 2010 the gates of the Presidential Palace in Bratislava were opened for the public. Thousands of visitors didn´t miss the opportunity to see not only the premises of the Grassalkovich palace, but in particular where the President Ivan Gašparovič and his spouse work. "Everyone, also we when we were younger, we were curious what it looks like in the President´s office or in the ministerial offices. While talking with visitors I see such joy, curiosity and the idea that I would ever want to do this job," said President Ivan Gašparovič.

First Lady Silvia Gašparovičová during the Day of Open Doors in the Presidential Palace enjoyed especially twinkling children´ eyes. "It is beautiful to see how they admire the decorations awarded by the president and they are also surprised by my space. They view images and pictures from my activities. It is of interest to them and also they admire my medals and awards that I won," said the spouse of the President.

Meetings with the presidential couple the guests used to obtain autograph or a personal interview with our highest officials. "Many people come to me and tell me about their problems, with which they didn´t succeed in an other official office. I listen to them and my colleagues are talking with them immediately. Also in this way we can sometimes help people," said President Ivan Gašparovič.

In addition to the rich cultural program for children and visitors in the Presidential Palace they could meet the President´s Legion Officers, see the program of majorettes, ensembles and singers Robo Kazík and Eva Máziková. In the chapel of the Presidential Palace they could hear the Slovak Andrea Bocelli – the blind singer Maroš Bango. Also sport fans could get signed photographs of the biathlete Pavol Hurajt, Anastasia Kuzminová, hockey players Tomáš Tatár, Marek Zagrapan and paralympian Jakub Krako and others.

It is interesting that it was the Slovak President Ivan Gašparovič in the 1990´ (at that time the Speaker of the Parliament) who came with the idea to open doors of the parliament to the public.
