The Presidential Palace on 5 December 2008 was filled with lisp and expectations of dozens of children from orphanages. They together with the Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic and Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová welcomed St. Nicholas, but also they lighted lights on the Christmas´ tree and the festive decoration of the Presidential Palace. Last year’s lucky ticket tossed up a meeting with the presidential couple for kids from the orphanage in Žakarovce, the Child Crisis Center „Náruč“ in Žilina and the orphanage Studienka in Bratislava.
At the beginning of the meeting Ivan Gašparovič together with his spouse Silvia and the children warmly welcomed St. Nicholas and together they inaugurated the big Christmas tree and Christmas decorations of the Presidential Palace. Children in orphanages while that visioned the St. Nicholas´ sack full of candy. The sweeties they got only as a reward for Christmas carols, songs and dances. At the same time thanks to a generous sponsor from Malá Tŕňa every child received a bag of delicious apples.
In 2009, this event in the Presidential Palace will visit children from orphanages in Michalovce, in Horný Kelčov and from the orphanage „Macejko“ in Malacky. |
