President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Nguyễn Minh Triết and his wife Tran Thi Kim Chi arrived on 17th December 2009 to the first-ever visit to Slovakia. After the official program of the two presidential couples had First Ladies their own program. "I´m delighted that I can welcome you in Slovakia. I am confident that you will like our country," said in the meeting Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. She also mentioned the pleasant experiences that she had during the official visit of the slovak presidential couple to Vietnam in 2006.
Tourism, modern buildings and healthy lifestyle – also such topics discussed both First Ladies. "In recent years, Slovakia has a large boom in the construction field. There are many modern buildings. Many people even predict to Bratislava that it will soon become the New York of the Central Europe," said at the meeting Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová.
After brief talks in the Golden Room of the Presidential Palace in Bratislava, First Ladies viewed the permanent exhibition of Gothic and Baroque Art in the Slovak National Gallery. So they could familiarize themselves with artefacts, personalities, techniques and themes of gothic artistic expression of the late 13th century till the early 16th century, as well as baroque art in Slovakia since its beginnings in the 17th century to late 18th century. |
