Clinic of Pediatric Diseases, Oncology Department or Modern Gallery in Zagreb – also these places could see during the official visit of the President Ivan Gašparovič in Croatia on 29 - 30 October 2008 Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová. Together with Mrs. Milka Mesič, spouse of the Croatian president, they visited the Children’s Disease Clinic in Zagreb. Mrs. Gašparovičová was keen interested in the hospital´s running and what issues are most frequently addressed. "We have sufficient support from the Croatian Ministry of Health. Our hospital is equipped with modern appliances. Annually we have 12.000 hospitalizations," said hospital director.
Into the child clinic in Zagreb come children not only from Croatia but also from neighboring countries – e.g. from Slovenia or Kosovo. Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová informed the hospital director about her foundation, but mainly about the project of health aid – ensuring the missing life-saving devices. "I know that hospitals are grappling with different problems, so it is also in Slovakia. Therefore through my foundation I try to help. We were able to provide e. g. dialysis device for liver failure and the operation apparatus for hepatic metastases."
In the afternoon Mrs. Silvia Gašparovičová together with her husband visited the museum Mimara, where they met with representatives of the Association of Slovaks in Croatia, Croatia-Slovak Friendship Association and slovak compatriots. Subsequently, they participated in the presentation of the slovak-croatian book from Ján Jankovič and Dubravka Dorotić Sesar called ´Tatras and Velebit´.
On Thursday, 30th October 2008 the presidential couple moved to Split, where Mrs. Gašparovičová visited the gallery Meštrovič. Major works of the croatian sculptor Ivan Meštrovič are exposed here – he created the statue of Martin Kukučín standing in the Medical Garden in Bratislava. At the heart of Dalmatia – in Split - President Ivan Gašparovič opened the first honorary consulate for the Slovaks in Croatia. |
